William Kincaid, a former reimbursement coordinator for 765-bed Charleston (W.Va.) Area Medical Center, has been charged with obstructing a federal audit last December. CAMC officials would not comment on the matter. According to the criminal information filed by the U.S. attorney in Charleston, Kincaid impeded a federal investigation involving the hospital's 1999 cost report and its receipt of $6 million in disproportionate-share payments. If convicted, Kincaid could receive up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. No hearings have been scheduled. -- by Susanna Moon
