American HomePatient, Brentwood, Tenn., along with 24 subsidiaries, filed for bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Nashville, listing about $300 million in debt. The company, which has lost money for five consecutive years, provides home health services and home medical equipment through 287 centers in 35 states. It submitted a reorganization plan with its Chapter 11 filing and said it plans to repay all debt. --by Julie Piotrowski
