An investigation into at least two dozen patient deaths at 33-bed Nocona (Texas) General Hospital led to the arrest today of a former nurse at the hospital, authorities said. Vickie Dawn Jackson, 36, who has not worked at the hospital since February 2001, was arrested on two counts of capital murder after her indictment by a Montague County grand jury. The investigation began last year after hospital officials determined that twice the expected amount of deaths had occurred -- all on the same shift -- from December 2000 to January 2001. It also was discovered that several vials of a drug used to temporarily stop breathing were reported missing in January 2001. -- by Michael Romano
