Broadlane, San Francisco, and Global Healthcare Exchange, Denver, have signed a three-year agreement to connect their Internet-based healthcare marketplaces. Financial terms were not disclosed. Broadlane is used by about 290 healthcare providers; GHX is supported by some of the nation's largest medical manufacturers. Officials said no equity was issued in connection with the agreement. Integrating the exchanges will result in a more comprehensive marketplace while minimizing costs, officials said. GHX supplier members will begin doing business with Broadlane customers in the second half of the year. The deal is expected to increase Broadlane's transaction volume by about 20%, or $300 million in purchases annually. -- by Cinda Becker
