Art Ulene, M.D., has been named consulting medical director of Sickbay Health Media, Melville, N.Y., after the company took on 100% ownership of a national wellness campaign Ulene developed called the "Vitality Challenge." Sickbay said the acquisition is part of a plan to "reposition" the company as a leader in the field of individual, media and hospital health-promotion programs and marketing. Last year, Sickbay acquired 49.5% ownership of Ulene's wellness campaign. The program debuted in April at 20 hospitals, which paid from $10,000 to $30,000 for exclusive rights to promote their association with the campaign. Ulene is the author of more than 50 health-related books and videos and was a health correspondent for NBC-TV's "Today Show" for nearly 20 years.
