Public Citizen, Washington, launched a Web site, www.questionabledoctors.org, with the names of about 6,700 physicians disciplined by medical and osteopathic boards in 12 states for a wide range of misdeeds--from incompetence to criminal convictions. Most of the doctors were not required to stop practicing medicine even temporarily, the consumer group said. It has published national and regional editions of the “questionable doctors” list for more than a decade, but this marks the information’s Web debut. “For many of the most serious offenses by doctors, the disciplinary actions imposed by state medical boards have been dangerously lenient,” said Sidney Wolfe, M.D., director of Public Citzen’s Health Research Group.
