Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center will break ground next week on a $100 million pavilion for women’s and children’s services, which will add 89 beds to 103 existing inpatient pediatric and mother/baby units. The hospital’s foundation will provide about $40 million of the funding from philanthropic gifts. Children’s services will be consolidated in the facility, and a separate women’s hospital within the pavilion will house the maternal/fetal medicine suite, labor and delivery rooms, two mother/baby units and a high-risk antepartum-care unit. The project is expected to be completed in early 2006.
