Overall, according to NCQA's 2001 State of Managed Care Quality Report, increasing numbers of MCOs have followed the committee's treatment recommendations for various conditions in the five years HEDIS data has been reported. One of NCQA's most successful efforts is the promotion of beta blocker use after a heart attack. Other endeavors, like postpartum care, show more modest increases over the years. And some, like the one for timeliness of prenatal care, show little effect overall.
