The Alexandria, Va.-based trade group's 15th annual compensation and productivity survey was conducted in February 2001 in partnership with the Minneapolis-based accounting firm RSM McGladrey. Goddard Healthcare Consulting
In February 2001, the Coppell, Texas-based physician recruitment and consulting company reported starting salaries for 9,500 physicians in 25 specialties employed by 4,500 healthcare providers, including hospitals (80%), group practices (15%), managed-care plans (3%) and other healthcare organizations (2%). The survey includes both in-practice physicians as well as 2001 residents who had received formal offers but had not yet begun practice. Survey is free of charge. The Philadelphia-based healthcare consulting firm surveyed 46 organizations in May 2000, reporting compensation for 9,000 physicians in 100 specialties. Also included in this year's survey are salaries for 36 pediatric specialties and 38 allied health positions. Organizations surveyed were managed-care/insurance plans (38%), hospitals (36%), group practices (25%) and other organizations (1%). Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service
The Oakland, N.J.-based consulting firm's survey of employed physicians is published each March. This year's 25th annual survey, conducted in January, includes 267 organizations and 16,744 physicians in 43 specialties. Martin, Fletcher & Associates
The Irving, Texas-based healthcare staffing firm surveyed primarily hospital CEOs, administrators and vice-presidents of human resources at 7,225 acute care facilities for its Annual Physician Compensation and Benefits Report listing 17 physician specialties. Of the organizations participating in this year's survey, conducted in April 2001, 2,960 were hospitals (41%) and 4,265 were clinics (59%). Medical Group Management Association
The Englewood, Colo.-based trade group conducts an annual compensation survey of its member practices. This year's report, conducted in February and listing salary data for fiscal 2000, includes 31,900 physicians in more than 90 specialties. Of the 1,485 organizations surveyed, 374 were hospitals. The Irving, Texas-based healthcare staffing firm reported compensation based on 2,043 recruitment offers at 663 organizations from April 2000 through March 2001. Sullivan, Cotter & Associates
The Detroit-based human resources consulting firm surveyed 219 organizations with 18,300 physicians in 161 specialties and positions. The survey, conducted in April, includes data from hospitals (61%), group practices (21%), health plans (26%) and other organizations (19%) including integrated delivery systems, faculty practice plans and medical foundations. The percentage exceeds 100 because of multiple response categories. The survey includes data on staff physicians, education/residency coordinators, division chiefs and department chairs, plus 10 physician administrative positions, five medical group executive positions and a separate table for residents. The Rockford, Ill.-based company is the only independently owned and operated survey firm collecting payment information for physicians and hospitals from managed-care companies. Warren recently released a new Physician Compensation and Benefits Report. Conducted in February, it includes 100 organizations and 4,000-plus physicians in 23 specialties. Organizations surveyed were hospitals (15%), group practices (39%), health plans (12%), university-based healthcare facilities (19%), community health centers (10%), and ambulatory-care centers (5%).
