Tenet gains Fla. hospitals. Tenet Healthcare Corp., Santa Barbara, Calif., last week was expected to complete a $244 million acquisition of two hospitals from Intracoastal Health Systems, West Palm Beach, Fla., after approval by a county circuit court. The sale involves 460-bed St. Mary's Hospital, a Catholic facility owned by Catholic Health East, and 341-bed Good Samaritan Medical Center. Both are in West Palm Beach. CHE manages Intracoastal.
CHS eyes Ill. facility. Community Health Systems, Brentwood, Tenn., last week signed a letter of intent to acquire 236-bed St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Granite City, Ill., for undisclosed terms. The organizations are now conducting due diligence on the proposed deal. CHS already has two Illinois hospitals among its total of 53 hospitals nationwide. St. Elizabeth is the only American hospital owned by the Sisters of Divine Providence, St. Louis.
