- Michael Fox, M.D., has been named president and CEO of Penwest Pharmaceuticals in Patterson, N.Y. He was president and CEO of Healthcare Advisors in Boston.
- Gerald Fischbach, M.D., has been named vice president for health and biomedical sciences, dean of the faculty of health sciences and dean of the faculty of medicine at Columbia University in New York. He will continue to serve as director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health. Fischbach also was named the university's Harold and Margaret Hatch professor in the faculties of health sciences and medicine.
- Arthur Leibowitz, M.D., has been named executive vice president, digital health partnerships at Hillsboro, Ore.-based Medscape. He was chief medical officer at Blue Bell, Pa.-based AetnaUSHealthcare.
- Alan Mease, M.D., has been named chief medical officer at Coi Solutions in Las Vegas. The company provides global electronic healthcare services via the Internet. Most recently he was director of the Center for Total Access at Fort Gordon, Ga.
Ruth Fischbach, M.D., has been named professor of biomedical ethics in psychiatry at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. She was assistant professor in the Department of Social Medicine with joint appointments in the division of medical ethics and the division on aging at Harvard Medical School.
