Judith Miller's letter in the May 29 issue (p. 23) regarding the "bride" cover was needed.
To my dismay, the very next page of that issue began with an article titled "System divorces on rise," which uses the bride comparison that "once-buoyant brides fidgeted in their lawyers' offices."
I could not believe you would use domestic violence as an analogy for demergers by saying, "What, these battered brides asked themselves, did I ever see in a hospital like that?"
Many hospitals provide intervention and education on domestic violence as a community health priority. Let's have an apology and a commitment to address these matters in an appropriate way.
