Time, Sports Illustrated and numerous other publications annually salute the people who have made the biggest impact on the fields they cover.
MODERN HEALTHCARE editors have shied away from bestowing such laurels, deciding we lack the wisdom to select the industry's annual most valuable player.
But as 1999 draws to a close, expect news organizations to go further, selecting a person of the century.
In keeping with our tradition, we won't reserve such power for ourselves. However, we invite readers, in 200 words or less, to submit their choice for the person who has meant the most to healthcare management or policy in the 20th century.
This exercise is not an election or a popularity contest. Rather, we will print a collection of the letters in a future issue of the magazine. It should make for fun reading and interesting debate.
There are three ways to enter your nomination: Mail it to Clark Bell, editor, MODERN HEALTHCARE, 740 Rush St., Chicago, Ill. 60611. Fax it to 312-280-3183. Or e-mail it to [email protected]
The deadline for submissions is Dec. 9.
