Judith Pelham, 54, on Friday was named president and chief executive officer of the new system being created by the merger of Mercy Health Services, Farmington Hills, Mich., and Holy Cross Health System Corp., South Bend, Ind.
Pelham is now president and CEO of Mercy. Pelham's appointment is effective upon creation of the system, which is anticipated by April 2000.
It's not clear what role Sister Patricia Vandenberg, 51, president and CEO of Holy Cross, will play in the new organization, which will be the country's third-largest Roman Catholic system. It will have 52 hospitals and $4 billion in revenues.
