Modern Physician's 1999 Physician Executive Award of Excellence was established to honor young physician executives who have demonstrated vision, leadership and business acumen and are positioned to be in the top tier of tomorrow's medical leadership ranks.
Nominations were open to those who have served at least three years as physician executives and who spend 75 percent or more of their work week on activities involving administrative and clinical management.
A panel of prominent physician leaders (see page 48) selected the winners on the basis of several criteria, including visionary leadership, outstanding problem-solving skills and leadership in strategic development of an organization.
The Award of Excellence is co-sponsored by Avio Corp., a Maitland, Fla., information technology solution company, and the American College of Physician Executives. Winners will be recognized on Nov. 9 at the ACPE's Fall Institute in Indian Wells, Calif.
