Baptist St. Anthony's Health System, based in Amarillo, Texas, has agreed to purchase a surgical hospital from Triad Hospitals, one of two companies spun off from Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. in May.
Triad is expected to complete the sale of 21-bed Panhandle Surgical Hospital to 454-bed Baptist St. Anthony's in August. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Baptist St. Anthony's includes a 100-bed skilled-nursing rehabilitation and hospice facility.
Panhandle Surgical was originally an ambulatory surgery center but was converted to a state-licensed surgical hospital several years ago, said Pat Ball, spokeswoman for Triad. The facility is one of nine that Dallas-based Triad earmarked for sale after its separation from Columbia. When the sale is completed, it will leave Triad with 37 hospitals.
