MedPartners last week signed definitive agreements to sell five medical groups representing about 13% of its remaining California operations.
Financial terms and buyers were not disclosed, pending approval of a bankruptcy court judge.
The groups, which together have about 135 of the company's approximately 1,000 physicians in the state, are Inland Empire Group, Riverside; U.S. Family Care Medical Center, Montclair; Cassidy Medical Group, San Diego; Eaton Medical Group, with offices in Tracy and Manteca; and High Desert Primary Care, Hesperia and Victorville. No projected completion date was announced.
Following the sale, Birmingham, Ala.-based MedPartners will have disposed of about 20% of its California physician operations, a spokesman said.
