David May has been promoted to assistant managing editor/features of MODERN HEALTHCARE. May will oversee cover stories, special reports and other features.
May, 39, has served as chief of the magazine's copy desk since 1994. He joined MODERN HEALTHCARE as a copy editor in 1989.
Previously, May was a copy editor for the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, Iowa, and copy desk chief at the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights, Ill. He has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northern Illinois University.
Todd Sloane succeeds May as copy desk chief. Sloane, 44, joined MODERN HEALTHCARE as a copy editor in 1994. He coordinates Washington coverage and the Outliers department. Sloane previously served as news editor for City & State magazine and managed four newspapers for Pioneer Press, Mundelein, Ill. He authored Gonzalez of Texas, a Congressman for the People and teaches journalism at Columbia College in Chicago. He has a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Illinois.
