The following transactions were announced recently. Unless stated, terms were not disclosed.
* New York investment firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe will acquire a 93% interest in Concentra Managed Care, Boston. The private venture capital firm now holds 14.9% of the occupational healthcare provider's stock. Welsh, Carson will pay $1.1 billion, including refinancing $328 million in debt, and will seek an independent third party to buy the remaining 7% of stock. Concentra, formed through the 1997 merger of Dallas-based OccuSystems and Boston-based CRA Managed Care, will continue to operate under its current name and management.
* Pediatrix Medical Group, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., acquired two Washington state practices: 18-physician Perinatal-Neonatal Associates, Seattle, and three-physician Southwest Washington Perinatal Services, Tacoma. The latter became part of Pediatrix's Obstetrix Medical Group subsidiary.
* IPC-The Hospitalist Co., North Hollywood, Calif., acquired St. Louis-based Inpatient Care Group, which employs five full-time-hospitalists and has been renamed IPC of St. Louis.
