Sutter Health has yanked its bid to help run the public San Joaquin General Hospital and its affiliated organizations in French Camp, Calif., leaving just one bid left for the proposed joint venture.
The remaining bid comes from Catholic Healthcare West and the University of California Davis Health System and represents the sole option left for San Joaquin County Health Care Services, the county agency responsible for the 203-bed hospital. No bid details were available.
Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter, a 26-hospital system, said it couldn't bring "significant added value" to the venture, given its structure, spokesman Bill Gleeson said, referring to the complexities of running an entire public health system.
The county board of supervisors is expected to decide in March whether to proceed with the CHW-UC Davis proposal.
