Primary Health and Idaho Physician Network, both of Boise, Idaho, have merged their physician networks, creating the largest such organization in the state.
Because of its size, the combined network of nearly 500 employed or contracting physicians will have tremendous clout in negotiating managed-care contracts with insurers.
Idaho Physician Network was incorporated in 1993. It has 175 member physicians, including 100 specialists. Primary Health is Idaho's largest primary-care physician group, employing 61 doctors working in 17 sites throughout southwestern Idaho. Primary Health also contracts with 235 doctors who make up its physician referral network.
Primary Health has its own managed-care plan, with about 10,500 enrollees.
