You chose one of the most important issues in healthcare today, Catholic and non-Catholic mergers, for your cover story ("What hospitals won't do for a merger," Sept. 28, p. 28). But instead of thoughtfully leading into an objective overview of the topic, you decided to run an anti-Catholic caricature on your cover, mocking 200 years of Catholic service to America.
Surely, you wouldn't mean to suggest that this was in any way meant as an "objective" illustration-three priests and a nun standing over an exhausted-looking surgeon, who is about to cut into a patient. The disservice your cartoon does to Catholic healthcare would negate any objective reporting you may have attempted on this topic.
