An item in the Aug. 17 Outliers column (p. 40) regarding Seton Hall University's on-line master's degree in healthcare administration program stated that "it is thought to be the nation's first on-line MHA program." Jan Clement from Virginia Commonwealth University responded in a letter to the editor that her school's program began in 1988, has graduated 10 classes and has more than 200 alumni.
We believe the on-line executive MHA program at the University of Colorado (Denver) is the first of its type in the nation. Our program began in 1985 with a grant from the Kellogg Foundation and in collaboration with the Western Network for Education in Health Administration (now the Network for Healthcare Management).
Our program, fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission on Education in Health Services Administration, has graduated 13 classes. We now have more than 350 alumni throughout the U.S. and Canada.
