The 1998 Modern Physician/PricewaterhouseCoopers technology survey was sent to more than 8,000 physician and administrative leaders of group practices. Names were culled from Modern Physician's subscriber list.
The surveys were sent in June, and 968 were returned by a late July deadline.
Questions were developed by Modern Physician and leaders of PricewaterhouseCoopers' healthcare practice. The accounting firm totaled the data.
Respondents represented practices of various sizes, although the vast majority were from practices of 50 physicians or fewer.
