The president of the HMO Council and Conference of New York State has been fired from his post less than three months after taking on leadership of the Albany-based trade association.
The association's executive committee terminated Stephen Cooper, 50, in late July, according to HMO Council Vice President Leslie Moran. There was no public announcement of Cooper's dismissal.
The council represents 32 New York health plans with a combined enrollment of more than 5 million.
"Mr. Cooper's management and philosophy were not compatible with the views of the executive committee and our board of directors," Moran said.
At press time, Cooper could not be reached for comment.
The group's executive committee will convene in the near future to start the search for Cooper's replacement, Moran said.
