Elliott C. Roberts Sr. was left off, but certainly not out.
Roberts has participated in the past three selections of Health Care Hall of Fame inductees. But he was left off the judging panel for 1998 candidates because of his nomination to the hall.
That nomination was decidedly successful: Roberts will take his place as one of 51 all-time luminaries of the healthcare field who are honored as members of the Hall of Fame.
The distinguished judges who selected Roberts and the other inductees for this year were:
Thomas W. Chapman, senior associate vice president for network development at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington.
Richard L. Clarke, president of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Westchester, Ill.
Thomas C. Dolan, president of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Chicago.
Charles S. Lauer, publisher of and corporate vice president of its parent company, Crain Communications, Chicago.
Robert O'Leary, chairman and chief executive officer of Premier, San Diego.
Judith Pelham, president and CEO of Mercy Health Services, Farmington Hills, Mich.
Donald C. Wegmiller, president and CEO of Management Compensation Group/HealthCare, Minneapolis.
