DEALS COMPLETED IN DECEMBER:
Houston-based American Oncology Resources agreed to affiliate with Tampa-based Florida Community Cancer and Imaging Centers, a 23-physician group with 20 locations in central Florida.
Largo, Fla.-based Vision Twenty-One acquired Florida Eye Care Associates, a managed-care company based in Tampa, for $4.6 million in cash and stock.
Fort Worth, Texas-based ProMedCo Management Co. acquired Portland, Maine-based Health Plans, which provides capitation management services for a provider network in Maine and New Hampshire. ProMedCo also completed a purchase of assets of Cowley Medical Associates, a 25-physician multispecialty group in Harrisburg, Pa. Separately, it signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Thomas-Spann Clinic, a 14-physician multispecialty group operating two sites in Corpus Christi, Texas.
San Diego-based FPA Medical Management agreed to acquire Meridian Medical Group, a 67-physician primary-care group, from Prudential Health Care Plan of Georgia. FPA plans to sign a 40-year management contract with the physicians and enter a 10-year nonexclusive global capitation provider agreement with the health plan. The deal is expected to close March 1.
Birmingham, Ala.-based MedPartners acquired Idaho Physician Associates, a 14-physician family practice in Boise.
Nashville-based PhyCor acquired the assets of Northern California Medical Associates, Santa Rosa, and entered a long-term management services agreement with the multispecialty clinic's 35 physicians. It also agreed to buy the assets of Lakeview Medical Center, a multispecialty clinic in Suffolk, Va., and enter a long-term management agreement with its 38 physicians.
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Urology Healthcare Group signed contracts to manage Western Carolina Urological, a five-physician practice in Hendersonville, N.C., and Urology Associates of Tuscaloosa (Ala.), a two-physician practice.
