Community Health Systems signed a 30-year lease of 65-bed D.M. Cogdell Memorial Hospital, Snyder, for an upfront payment of $8.5 million to Scurry County. Separately, Community Health Systems signed a 30-year lease of 32-bed Big Bend Regional Medical Center, Alpine, and a 30-year lease of 49-bed Lake Granbury Medical Center, formerly known as Hood General Hospital, Granbury, both for undisclosed terms.
Eight-hospital East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System, Tyler, signed a five-year lease of 173-bed Nan Travis Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, in a deal valued at $31 million.
Seven-hospital Harris Methodist Health System, Fort Worth, and four-hospital Presbyterian Health Resources, Dallas, merged into Texas Health Resources, Irving.
282-bed Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Waco, agreed to lease 21-bed West (Texas) Community Hospital for undisclosed terms and renamed it Hillcrest Medical Center at West.

410-bed St. Mary of the Plains Hospital, Lubbock, merged with eight-hospital Lubbock Methodist Hospital System.
316-bed Alexandria (Va.) Health Services Corp. merged with three-hospital Inova Health System, Springfield.
Columbia Arlington (Va.) Healthcare System, a joint venture of Columbia and 256-bed Arlington Healthcare System, acquired 102-bed National Hospital Medical Center, Arlington, for undisclosed terms.
PSH Acquisition Corp., Petersburg, acquired 100-bed Poplar Springs Hospital, also of Petersburg, from Columbia for undisclosed terms.
Tidewater Health Care, which owns 274-bed Virginia Beach (Va.) General Hospital, agreed to merge with five-hospital Sentara Health System, Norfolk. The systems hadn't sought clearance from federal authorities as of late last year.
149-bed Evergreen Hospital Medical Center, Kirkland, also known as King County Public Hospital District No. 2, and two-hospital Swedish Health Services, Seattle, agreed to form a joint operating company. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly.
779-bed Camcare, Charleston, acquired 30-bed Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, W.Va., in return for assuming $1.6 million of Braxton's debt and providing $1.2 million over the next three years for capital improvements. Separately, Camcare agreed to acquire 79-bed Plateau Medical Center, Oakhill, from Tenet Healthcare System for
$20 million. The deal closed Jan. 1.
Columbia acquired 52-bed Beckley (W.Va.) Hospital for undisclosed terms.
West Virginia ARH, Beckley, leased 173-bed Beckley (W.Va.) Appalachian Regional Hospital from 11-hospital Appalachian Regional Healthcare, Lexington, Ky., for $10.5 million. West Virginia ARH is a subsidiary of Heritage Health System, which is a joint venture of Appalachian Regional and Camcare.
334-bed West Virginia University Hospitals, Morgantown, and 309-bed United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, merged into West Virginia United Health System.
11-hospital Wheaton (Ill.) Franciscan Services bought 148-bed St. Catherine's Hospital, Kenosha, from Catholic Health Initiatives for undisclosed terms.
