Seven former Value Health executives, including its founder, Robert E. Patricelli, have started a company to manage obstetrics and gynecology practices.
The new company, Avon, Conn.-based Women's Health Connecticut, said it already has an agreement to manage Physicians for Women's Health, a 133-doctor network including more than 20% of the state's OB/GYNs.
Patricelli, who founded Avon-based Value Health and was its chairman, president and chief executive officer, said he intends to create a national company.
Women's Health Connecticut operates under a holding company called Patient Centered Health Care, which could be a vehicle for national expansion.
Patricelli walked away from Value Health with a lucrative one-year consulting agreement when it was purchased by Nashville-based Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. in August.
