After five years, Bruce Spivey, M.D., is leaving his post as president and chief executive officer of nine-hospital Northwestern Healthcare Network in Chicago to head a new academic physician organization in New York.
Spivey, 62, will become president and CEO of Columbia-Cornell Care, a new company that combines clinical faculties at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Cornell University Medical College. Columbia-Cornell Care will provide practice management services to some 1,500 physicians.
"It gets me back to working with physicians directly, which I've missed," Spivey said. He added that one of the network's hospital CEOs would likely take his place on an interim basis.
