PARK RIDGE, N.J.-Merit Behavioral Care Corp., based in Park Ridge, and Vienna, Va.-based AmeriChoice Behavioral Healthcare said they have agreed to form a joint venture to pursue public-sector mental health and substance-abuse managed-care business in Georgia, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Under the agreement, AmeriChoice and Merit will form new partnerships and limited liability companies that will bid for public-sector contracts. The managed-care companies said they will provide services to Medicaid recipients and public employees.
NORWOOD, N.J.-Englewood Cliffs, N.J.-based Continental Health Affiliates said it has received $9.2 million in financing from the First Toronto Group to build a 120-unit assisted-living facility in Norwood. Continental said the new facility will be located next to the company's 180-bed nursing home and another of its assisted-living facilities. Continental operates nursing homes and retirement communities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
KIMBERTON, Pa.-Senior LifeChoice, based in Kimberton, plans to open the Mallard Landing Retirement Community in Salisbury, Md., next month. The community will include 44 cottages, 103 condominiums and a 90-unit assisted-living facility. In addition, Senior LifeChoice said it has affiliated with Kennett Square, Pa.-based Genesis Health Ventures to offer a wellness center in the community. The center will provide health programs, access to physicians, wellness programs and caregiver support.
