In your July issue, Charles Lauer quotes Roger Rathert, M.D., as emphasizing the physician who has "already evolved from thinking like a practicing physician to thinking and behaving like a manager and executive." I would add: But he then never forgets how a practicing physician thinks. The true genius of the physician executive is being able to move easily between the two and meld them into a greater perspective than either is individually.
