Nashville-based PhyCor agreed to acquire certain assets of Welborn Clinic, a multispecialty practice in Evansville, Ind., and entered a long-term contract with the 93-physician group associated with the clinic. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Atlanta-based dental managed-care company CompDent Corp. and its Dental Health Management subsidiary agreed to acquire the assets of 21 dental facilities in central and southern Illinois for about $14.3 million. The facilities were managed by Effingham, Ill.-based Workman Management Group. DHM will enter a 40-year agreement to manage the facilities, which are staffed with 26 dentists.
Tarrytown, N.Y.-based Advanced Health Corp. announced long-term management agreements with Assured Care Network Management Co. in Chattanooga, Tenn., to manage a 486-physician network; Bergen (N.J.) Medical Alliance, a multispecialty group with seven doctors; Orange County Medical Associates, a primary-care group of 14 doctors in Goshen and Florida, N.Y.; Catskill Medical Associates, a group of nine doctors in the Hudson Valley, N.Y., communities of Kingston, Newburgh, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, Saugerties and Woodstock; and the two-physician Tarrytown Medical Group. It extended the term of a management contract with Madison Medical, The Private Practice Group of New York to 30 years from 20 years. It also announced a joint venture to develop and operate a radiology facility on site at Madison Medical. No financial terms were disclosed.
Fort Worth, Texas-based ProMedCo Management Co. signed a letter of intent to buy Portland, Maine-based Health Plans, which manages a network of 240 physicians and several hospitals in Maine and New Hampshire. Terms were not disclosed.
West Palm Beach, Fla.-based PhyMatrix issued 562,500 shares of stock worth about $9 million for the purchase of two diagnostic imaging centers in Miami and North Miami Beach. The company also entered a management agreement for a radiation therapy center in White Plains, N.Y., at a base management fee of about $400,000 per year, with a private physician whose name wasn't disclosed.
Physicians associated with Durham (N.C.) Regional Hospital and Duke University Medical Center in Durham formed an independent practice association called PrimaHealth, which will cover eight counties. The IPA expects to be operational by Sept. 1 with as many as 600 physicians, who will pay a membership fee to join. Other financing hasn't been determined, according to a spokesman for Durham Regional.
Purchase, N.Y.-based IntegraMed America bought the assets of San Diego-based Reproductive Sciences Center, a provider of infertility and assisted reproductive technology services, and signed a contract with the physicians to manage their practice. IntegraMed said it intends to build a new, fully integrated facility. Terms were not disclosed.
