FPA Medical Management and Aetna U.S. Healthcare announced a nonexclusive agreement for FPA physicians to treat the health plan's enrollees in mutual markets.
The national long-term relationship will give the health plan's more than 14 million enrollees access to FPA's affiliated physicians effective July 1.
Initially, Aetna U.S. Healthcare enrollees will have access to FPA affiliated physicians in Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Texas. FPA expects to expand its network into New York soon.
FPA currently provides care to about 7,000 Aetna U.S. Healthcare enrollees in California.
It's the third national provider agreement for San Diego-based FPA, which also has deals with Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Foundation Health Systems (May 5, p. 4) and the merged company of Cypress, Calif.-based PacifiCare Health Systems and FHP International (May 26, p. 24).
