SANDPOINT, Idaho-A multimillion-dollar expansion is planned for Bonner General Hospital, creating a new home for the surgery and outpatient departments, administrator Gene Tomt said. "It's a giant step forward to modernizing it an d will help us deal with the needs today and the needs to come as well," he said last month. Work on the 24,000-square-foot wing is expected to begin this summer and take up to eight months at a cost in excess of $3 million. Room also will be made for nutritional counseling, diabetes education, mental health services, speech and occupational therapy and the cardiac rehabilitation program. The hospital plans to finance the project through tax-exempt revenue bonds, which are allowed by the Idaho Health Facilities Authority.
