Agoura Hills, Calif.-based J.D. Power and Associates, known for its landmark consumer quality studies in the automotive industry, has teamed with Boston-based New England Medical Center's Primary Care Outcomes Research Institute and Ann Arbor, Mich.-based consulting firm Medstat Partners to profile healthcare delivery.
The program, called Medstat Quality Catalyst, will measure quality from the perspectives of physicians, plan enrollees and purchasers, using claims, medical record data and individual plans' specific disease management success rates. In a joint statement, the groups claim their effort is "the first program that provides standardized measures for both HMO and non-HMO plans within a local market," and that it will spur standardized testing throughout the industry.
The first results from the program will be available in the fall.
Officials from the three organizations were not immediately available for comment.
