Lahey Hitchcock Clinic, a Burlington, Mass.-based multispecialty physician practice, last week established a network affiliation with Boston Regional Medical Center, a Stoneham, Mass., hospital serving suburbs north and northwest of Boston.
The affiliation involves no transfer of assets or governance. Rather, the two organizations said they are combining their clinical resources and expertise to improve care and accessibility to services in Boston Regional's service area.
Part of that effort could include using Lahey's know-how to extend the service area of Boston Regional, a Lahey spokeswoman said. Lahey gains the prospect of increasing tertiary-care referrals to its physician practice, she said.
Lahey has an acute-care facility on the same campus with a 275-physician clinic in Burlington, about five miles west of Stoneham.
The multispecialty practice includes 960 physicians in more than 70 locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
