Painesville, Ohio-based Lake Hospital System last week fired its president and chief executive officer, Ralph W. Sorrell Sr., citing "philosophical differences."
Chief Operating Officer Cynthia Moore-Hardy was named interim CEO while a search is conducted for a replacement, a system spokeswoman said.
Sorrell could not be reached for comment last week on the dismissal, effective March 3. Sorrell, 54, joined the two-hospital system in 1988 as vice president of finance. He was named interim CEO in 1993 and appointed permanently to the top job in May 1994.
Sorrell worked at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, from 1985 to 1988 as an assistant vice president and at Upper Valley Medical Cente, Piqua, Ohio, for eight years, starting as chief financial officer and later becoming COO, according to the system's spokeswoman.
