Charlotte Snow's article ("A loss of confidence," Jan. 13, p. 3), based on an American Hospital Association report regarding the erosion in public trust in the nation's healthcare system, is confirmed by hospital fund-raising results. As the public increasingly perceives hospitals as "money-makers," charitable giving to facilities also drops. In short, not-for-profits should take note: A loss of confidence equals a loss of cash.
