In the Dec. 9 article on the nation's "100 Top Hospitals" (p. 52), Methodist Health System of Houston was incorrectly mentioned as having made the list for the first time. Memorial Hospital System was the Houston hospital achieving that designation, as correctly reported on the list accompanying the article.
Picker International says it fixes and maintains diagnostic imaging equipment made by other vendors at more than 200 sites. A chart accompanying a cover story on diagnostic imaging equipment manufacturers and servicing of equipment (Dec. 2, p. 56) showed Picker services diagnostic equipment at 22 sites. Those sites are ones at which Picker covers all equipment. The number rises to more than 200 if one adds the sites at which Picker does not cover all pieces of equipment.
Because of incorrect information supplied by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, a Nov. 11 article (p. 34) on certification of credentials verification organizations said Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Medilert-IRIS was certified in eight of 10 possible areas. The company actually is certified in nine of the 10 areas.
