ST. LOUIS-A new hospital is about to open in the structure once known as Normandy Osteopathic Hospital in the suburbs of St. Louis. A new entity called Normandy Community Hospital, which received certificate-of-need approval in March 1995, is scheduled to start admitting patients in December. It will have 80 beds and employ 300 people. The building is now being renovated. Mid-America Equities, based in Texas, is partnering with Mid-America Healthcare Group on the $8 million project. The old osteopathic hospital closed for lack of business, but community support and physician interest persuaded the Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee that the new owners could sustain a hospital at that location.
