The complete HEDIS 3.0 document, a four-volume compilation of broad narratives and narrow technical details, won't be ready until early January. But a summary of major changes made to the final draft will be available at the end of this month.
One of those volumes, a compilation of technical specifications, also will be available at the end of the month so implementation teams can get a head start, said Carolyn Cocotas, assistant vice president for new-measure development with the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
As for the other volumes, one covers the survey instrument for health-plan enrollee satisfaction, and another is a "road map" for planning and implementing information systems that capture performance-measurement data. The remaining volume offers a broad explanation of HEDIS 3.0 and its development.
The summary and specifications will be issued to organizations that order an advance copy of the HEDIS specifications, Cocotas said. The four-volume set costs $375, with individual prices for single volumes or combinations.
