BUFFALO, N.Y.-WestLink Corp., a for-profit partnership of western New York healthcare providers, elected Richard H. Ketcham chairman of the 12-member network. Ketcham is chief executive officer of Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y. Earlier this year, WestLink tapped Richard W. Petersen to serve as the corporation's first full-time president (Feb. 19, p. 17). The network's hospital, health system and long-term-care members are working together to reduce costs, broaden available services and enter managed-care contracts.
NEW YORK-New York Hospital Health Plan Services, the managed-care arm of New York Hospital, and Cranford, N.J.-based MasterCare Cos. announced a new workers' compensation program called Employee Select Care. NYH Care Network, New York Hospital's regional network of hospitals and physicians, will provide managed-care services for employees in the program. Arthur Klein, M.D., the network's senior vice president, said it's the first such program in the market to be sponsored by an academic healthcare system. MasterCare provides managed-care coverage for workers' compensation services to more than 300 companies with 150,000 employees.
