The largest hospital in Texarkana, Texas, has formed a joint venture with a large multispecialty group practice to provide an integrated network in the community.
Wadley Regional Medical Center and Collom and Carney Clinic, which has 50 physicians, formed a 50-50 partnership called Wadley/Collom and Carney Health System. The hospital and the clinic will remain independent.
The partnership's first venture is expected to be a retail pharmacy at Central Mall, where the physician group operates a primary-care clinic and Wadley operates a health education center.
"The opportunities are unlimited," said William Curtis, Wadley's chief operating officer, about the venture's future plans. The clinic also owns an outpatient surgery center, in which the hospital may become a financial partner, he said.
