ST. CHARLES, Mo.-Four hospitals and their physician-hospital organizations in northeast Missouri have banded together to form a new provider network. Known as Mid Rivers Health Care Network, the group comprises St. Joseph Health Ce nter, St. Charles; St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake St. Louis; Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy; and Pike County Memorial Hospital, Louisiana. Drew Morten, executive director of the new group, said insurance companies want to c ontract with groups of hospitals and doctors in the triangle formed by Hannibal, Columbia and St. Charles, but not networks that include metropolitan St. Louis. The network should strengthen small hospitals by offering them seconda ry and tertiary referral paths through St. Louis Health Care Network, which is a member of SSM Health Care System.
