SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Not-for-profit Memorial Hospitals Association, based in Modesto, Calif., has formally affiliated with Sutter/CHS, creating a comprehensive network in the San Joaquin Valley and foothill area. MHA operates 269-bed Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, 48-bed Memorial Hospital in Los Banos, Central Valley Recovery Resources in Ceres and several outpatient facilities, programs and services. Sutter/CHS runs an HMO and operates 25 hospitals as we ll as physician-care centers in more than 100 Northern California communities. In the San Joaquin Valley, Sutter owns a medical foundation and three hospitals: 79-bed Tracy (Calif.) Community Memorial Hospital, 141-bed Oak Valley D istrict Hospital in Oakdale and 211-bed Dameron Hospital in Stockton. Jeffrey P. Burda, chairman of the MHA board, said in a written statement that Sutter was chosen as a partner because it "shares our commitment to quality, nonpr ofit, community-based care." MHA will continue to be governed by a local board, under the authority of Sutter's board.
