The oldest eye and ear specialty hospital in the United States is the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. It opened in 1820. A story in the May 6 issue (p. 76) incorrectly identified the oldest eye and ear hospital as Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Established in 1832, Wills was the first facility to specialize solely in eye care.
Quorum Health Group, Brentwood, Tenn., named Eugene Fleming executive vice president and chief operating officer, a new position. It was incorrectly reported that Fleming succeeds Martin Rash. Rash had been chief operating officer with Community Health System, a Nashville, Tenn.-based hospital company (May 20, p. 6).
A chart in MODERN HEALTHCARE's Multi-unit Providers Survey (May 20, p. 62) showing the 10 largest not-for-profit healthcare systems contained incorrect data. A corrected chart appears on p. 24. Also, a chart on p. 65 gave an incorrect bed count for Daughters of Charity National Health System. The correct number is 9,937.
