Awards: The American Society for Health Care Marketing and Public Relations board voted to suspend its Touchstone Awards for 1996, and the Society for Healthcare Planning and Marketing will do the same with its various awards. A joint committee will evaluate the awards programs.
Dues: Annual dues will increase, probably to no more than $200, making them comparable to like organizations, ASHCMPR President Rhoda Weiss said. Current dues are $130 to belong to one of the societies and $234 to belong to both.
Governance: The two 15-person boards will merge and gradually diminish to 15 members through attrition. Weiss, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based healthcare planning and marketing consultant, would be president of the new organization in its first six months, followed by SHPM President-elect Carolyn Drummond, director of strategic planning for St. Louis-based Daughters of Charity National Health System.
