WAYNE, N.J.-Wayne General Hospital has agreed to merge with Saint Barnabas Health Care System in Livingston, N.J. Wayne General's board and its parent company voted March 28 to sign an "agreement and plan of merger" finalizing a two-year process of analyzing various consolidation options (Feb. 12, p. 35). If approved by the Federal Trade Commission, the proposed transaction would result in Saint Barnabas representing eight acute-care facilities with $1.5 b illion in revenues and a total of 3,225 beds.
