ST. LOUIS-Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis will provide research and data gathering services to St. Louis Regional Medical Center to help the public hospital chart a course for the future. Sisters of Mercy personnel will help Regional write a strategic plan, which will include goals and objectives, a marketing plan and financial plan. Regional has never had the resources to engage in proper planning, said LaVert Morrow, M.D., its board chairman. At the same time, Regional announced that Unity Health System, an affiliate of Sisters of Mercy, has made a $94,127 grant to help start a kidney dialysis unit on the North Side of St. Louis. The St. Louis Regional Medical Center Foundation had raised $166,300 for dialysis machines and chairs but lacked funds to start operations.
